In November 1979, hundreds of armed militants took over the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Led by Juhayman al-Otaybi, the rebels declared the arrival of the religious figure the “Mahdi” and demanded to overthrow the Saudi government. This video is presented by Aslan Pahari as part of the ABC Content Creator program.

This video was produced by the ABC Content Creator team as part of the Innovation Lab. For this project I worked alongside the presenter Aslan and video producer Tejas Bhat as we shot, edited, created motion graphics and produced this video.
