In My Blood It Runs | Digital campaign

All Video, Documentary

In My Blood It Runs is an award-winning documentary following 10-year-old Arrente/Garrwa boy Dujuan Hoosan as he navigates the failings of Australia’s education and legal system. As he travels perilously close to incarceration, his family fight to give him a strong Arrernte education alongside his western education before he becomes another statistic. More than a film, the documentary has a multi-year impact campaign driven by Arrernte and Garrwa advisors and their vision for change.

In My Blood It Runs is a film like no other. As well as its collaborative storytelling approach, the film has been independently released alongside a multi-faceted impact campaign. This has allowed me the opportunity to create social media content ahead of the film’s release, materials for its impact and education campaigns as well as videos for partner organisations.

Like many things in 2020, the film’s cinematic run was impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak, meaning it required a lot imagination and creativity on the run as it moved to a successful virtual cinema release before screenings recommenced in Australia and abroad. This freedom and trust from the filmmaking team and family in helping to share these stories has been a privilege and an honour.
